Prayer to St. Luke (Patron Saint of Physicians)

St. Luke the Evangelist was author of the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles. He is the patron saint of physicians, surgeons, students, butchers, and artists. The Feast of St. Luke is celebrated on 18th October.

Most charming and saintly Physician, you were animated by the heavenly Spirit of love. In faithfully detailing the humanity of Jesus, you also showed his divinity and his genuine compassion for all human beings. Inspire our physicians with your professionalism. And with divine compassion for their patients, enable them to cure the ills of both body and spirit that afflict so many of our day. Amen.

Prayer to our Heavenly Father

Here is a wonderful prayer to Our Heavenly Father, Almighty God.

Father, what love you have bestowed on us! We are called your children – we are your children. You have sent into our hearts the Spirit of your Son, who makes us call out to you; Abba, Father! You have rescued us Father, from the world of darkness and placed us in the kingdom of your beloved Son. You let the sun rise and rain fall on the good and evil alike. You have given us the true bread of Heaven. You see the secrets of human hearts. You know the needs of all, Father. You nourish the birds of the air and the lilies of the field. Without you, not even a sparrow can fall from the roof. I give you thanks. I trust in you. Amen.

Prayer to St. Anne

St. Anne  (Ann or Anna) was the mother of the Virgin Mary and grandmother of Jesus Christ. She is represented holding the Blessed Virgin Mary in her lap, who again carries on her arm the child Jesus. She is the patron Saint of housewives, grandmothers, cabinet makers, miners, and women in labor.

Dear Saint, we know nothing about you except your name. But you gave us the Mother of God who called herself handmaid of the Lord. In your home, you raised the Queen of Heaven and you are rightly the model of homemakers. In your womb came to dwell the new Eve, uniquely conceived without sin. Intercede for us that we too may remain free from sins. Amen.
