Lord Jesus, be with my family. Grant us Your peace and harmony, an end to conflict and division. Gift us with compassion to better understand each other, wisdom and love to assist each other, and trust and patience to live peacefully together. Grant that through the intercession of your mother, Mary, and St. Joseph, our family may become a holy family accepting each other, working together in unity, selflessly dedicated to one other and to You. Amen.
Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta was beatified on 19th October, 2003 by Pope John Paul II. Her Feast day is celebrated on 5th September. In preparation for her feast day, here is a prayer for growing in charity, service and love.
Gracious God, You offered the world a powerful example of Christian love in action through the words and deeds of BLESSED MOTHER TERESA of Calcutta.
She taught us how to faithfully serve Jesus by loving and caring for the least of our brothers and sisters. She devotedly fed the hungry, gently cared for those who were sick and dying, provided shelter for the homeless, and embraced needy children who were unwanted and forgotten.
Help me, O GOD, to imitate her love and compassion for others. Give me a charitable heart, that I may generously share your blessings, and care for Jesus today in the poor and less fortunate as MOTHER TERESA did. Amen
The greatest responsibility of parents is to pray for their children and guide them to Jesus and teach them about Catholic faith, so that at the end of their earthly journey, their souls may be in Heaven. Here is a daily prayer to our Blessed Mother for our dear children. Let us consecrate our children to our Heavenly Mother so that she may lead them to Heaven.
O Lady of Providence, my mother, to you I confide the children God has entrusted to me. Keep them safe in body and soul. When the responsibilities and trials of life come to them, continue to be their provident mother. Above all, O Mary, be with my children at the hour of death and lead them into eternity, so that with you, they may praise forever the Creator, the Redeemer and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Here is a Prayer of Complete Surrender to Almighty God by Blessed Charles Eugene de Foucauld, who was a French Catholic priest and martyr. His Feast Day is on December 1st. This Prayer teaches us to accept and follow God’s Will every moment of our lives.
Father, I abandon myself into your hands; do with me what you will.
Whatever you may do, I thank you. I am ready for all, I accept all.
Let only your will be done in me, and in all your creatures.
I wish no more than this, O Lord.
Into your hands I commend my spirit;
I offer it to you with all the love of my heart, for I do love you, Lord, and so need to give myself, to surrender myself into your hands,
without reserve, and with boundless confidence, for you are my Father.
Here is a beautiful prayer written by Saint Ignatius of Loyola who was the founder of the Society of Jesus. His Feast is celebrated on July 31st.
Lord, teach me to be generous.
Teach me to serve you as you deserve.
To give and not to count the cost.
To fight and not to heed the wounds.
To toil and not to seek for rest.
To labor and not to ask for reward.
Save that of knowing that I am doing your will.
Whenever we are anxious, worried, restless or discouraged, let us turn our hearts to our Lord Jesus Christ and his Blessed Mother. Let us ask our Heavenly Mother’s intercession for peace and happiness.
Holy Mary, loving mother and heavenly guide, be present to me now and let me know your compassion and kindness. Pray for me to your Divine Son, that I may experience calmness, tranquility and peace in all my emotions.
Help me to grow in faith and love. Protect me from all that displeases God, and obtain for me serenity of mind, body and spirit.
I place my trust and confidence in you, dear Blessed mother, and I pray that God’s blessings of mercy, grace and gentle goodness will bring happiness to my life, now and always. Amen.
