Parish Retreats
God gave me a wonderful chance to experience an amazing Parish Lenten Mission by Father Dan Sullivan at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Charlotte. The theme for the mission was “Faces of Jesus”. The mission went on for 3 nights – 1 hour each night. Jesus Christ worked wonders in our lives in just 3 hours. We felt blessed, forgiven and healed in 3 nights.
Father Dan left a lasting impression on me and I felt immense happiness and peace as I attended the 3 nights of the retreat. His simple messages like “taking the higher road” , “praying for yourself”, “God is everywhere” changed my outlook towards life and made me realize how loving our Heavenly Father is.
I would recommend Monsignor Dan Sullivan’s retreat to everyone. It is a wonderful way to experience Jesus Christ.

Prayer of Doctors
Lord Jesus Christ, you are the great Physician of our souls. During your life on earth, you healed the sick and even brought the dead back to life. From your heavenly abode, continue to be the Divine Physician for your people and bless the noble work to which you have called me. Make me truly wise in my medical judgements and genuinely sympathetic in my dealings with patients.
Dear Lord, guide my mind and my hands and inspire me with words of comfort that I may help those in suffering. Encourage me in the trials and misery to which I am daily exposed. Grant that I may always use my power and influence for good, and let no human being ever deter me from the performance of my sacred duty in accord with your Holy Law. Amen
Prayer of Students
Father of Light and Wisdom, thank you for giving me a mind that can understand and a heart that can love. Help me to keep learning every day of my life – no matter what the subject may be.
Let me be convinced that all knowledge leads to you and let me know how to find you and love you in all the things that you have made.
Encourage me when studies are difficult and when I am tempted to give up. Enlighten me when my brain is slow and help me to grasp the truth held out to me.
Grant me the grace to put my knowledge to use in the building the kingdom of God on earth so that I may enter the Kingdom of God in heaven. Amen.
Prayer of GrandParents
Heavenly Father, I know that every period of our lives has its responsibilities as well as its joys. Today, it seems that grandparents have either too little use or too much – either we are shunted aside to do nothing or we are called upon to do everything.
Help me to know just where my duties lie in my particular situation and to carry them out as best as I can. Take care of my family – my children and their children. Inspire them all to follow your Son and lead trulyChristian lives. Keep all of us in your loving care, never let us turn away from you, and help us in the end to receive the joy of entering into your glorious presence forever. Amen
Prayer to Listen to Our Lord
Here is a daily prayer when you want to listen to God’s will. Keep your mind calm, free of all thoughts and meditate on Jesus. Lord will speak to you when you surrender your heart to him fully.
Speak, Lord Jesus; I will listen. You do not come to my soul without speaking to me in some way.
Please make your presence known in the heart and mind of faith.
I will be quiet, and let my desires and worries rest, in order to hear you. In silence, I will learn to know your “intimate will” in my regard. Amen
Prayer to St. Peregrine (Patron Saint of the Cancer Afflicted)
Cancer - the deadly disease which has snatched many of our loved ones, is one of the most common problems faced by this Generation. We need to pray to our Lord Jesus Christ for his mercy and compassion. We need to pray for the sufferings of all those who are afflicted by Cancer. May the Lord Almighty hear our prayers and heal the Cancer Patients. Here is a prayer for all the Cancer Afflicted.
O great Saint Peregrine, you who bore in your own flesh this cancerous disease, and were favored with the vision of Jesus Christ coming down from his cross to heal your affliction, ask of God and our Lady, the cure of these sick people whom we entrust to you.
(Pause here to silently recall the names of the sick for whom you are praying. )
Aided by your intercessions, we praise God and give thanks for his kindness and mercy. Amen
Prayer to Our Lady of Velankani
O Mary ! Our Mother of Health, and our Heavenly Queen, seated on your throne of mercy and compassion in your Holy Shrine at Velankanni, we praise and honour you to be our refuge and our relief.
Numberless are the sick who have recovered health through your intercession. Relying on your power and goodness, we come to you and implore you to heal our infirmities and to obtain for us perfect health of body and soul, that we may better be able to serve you and your divine Son.
At all times, you have been the help and consolation of the infirm. You obtain for them health when it is conducive to their salvation. You assist them at the time of their death. Help us then, O most amiable Mother and obtain for us cure from all our sufferings, or patience to endure them in the spirit of resignation agreeable to God’s Holy Will, so that all our trials and sufferings may help to purify our souls and help us to detach ourselves from all earthly ties. Amen
Prayer to St.Anthony of Padua
Saint Anthony of Padua – friend of Baby Jesus and miracle worker, is known as the intercessor of all those who seek lost items. He is the Patron of Portugal, of travelers, of pregnant and barren women, and of the poor. Here is a small prayer to St. Anthony.
Dear St. Anthony, you are the patron of the poor and the helper of all who seek lost articles.
Help me to find the object I have lost so that I will be able to make better use of the time I gain for God’s greater honour and glory. Grant your gracious aid to all people who seek what they have lost, expecially those who seek to regain God’s grace. Amen
Prayer for Oneself
O Jesus, wash away my sins with your Precious Blood. O Jesus, the struggle against temptation is not yet finished. My Jesus, when temptation comes near me make me strong against it. In the moment of temptation may I always say: “My Jesus, mercy ! Mary, Help! “
O Jesus, may I lead a good life; may I die a happy death. May I receive you before I die. May I say when I am dying: “Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I give you my heart and my soul.”
Amen.
Prayer of the Unemployed
Dear Lord Jesus Christ, you wanted all who are weary to come to you for support. Lord, I am worn out by my inability to find wage-earning work. Day after day, my worry and fear grow as the rejections of my applications mount. I am able and willing to work but I cannot find a worthwhile job. Please help me to obtain one soon so that I can support myself and my family in a decent way.
However, if it is your will that I wait longer, enable me to worry less and to be able to take advantage of the time available to get closer to you. Let me realize that there are other ways to bring about your kingdom on earth besides salaried work. Help me to make use of them for the time being so that I may continue to grow as a person for your greater glory. Amen
