Prayer of Saint Francis Before the Crucifix

Here is a prayer to be recited before a crucifix. This prayer is attributed to St. Francis of Assisi, the founder of the Franciscans.

Most High, glorious God, enlighten the darkness of my heart.
Lord, instill in me,
a faith that is unerring,
a hope that is certain,
a love that is perfect,
a sensitivity and a knowledge
that I may accomplish Your holy and true command.
Amen.
