St. Raphael is one of the seven Archangels who stands before the throne of God. He is the patron saint of travelers and the blind. In the Holy Bible, St. Raphael appears in the Book of Tobit. He is sent by God to help Tobias, Sarah and Tobit. Raphael discloses his identity in Chapter 12 of the book of Tobit.
Dear St. Raphael, your lovely name means “God Heals”. The Lord sent you to young Tobias to guide him throughout his long journey.
Upon his return, you taught him how to cure his father Tobit’s blindness.
How natural, therefore, for Christians to pray for your powerful help for safe travel and a happy return.
This is what we ask for ourselves as well as for all who are far from home.
Amen.
