Prayer of Single People

Heavenly Father, after much prayer and reflection, it is my belief that I can best serve you in my single state.

Let me be true to my vocation to this life and never do anything to sully it. As I freely give up the benefits of married life, I am aware that I also give up its difficulties and receive in turn the benefits if the single state. Enable me to appreciate the freedom at my disposal from cares and concerns of spouses and children, from a highly structured life-style,and from the legitimate demands of family members. Help me to make good use of the added time I have available. Inspire me to give myself to others, to be an example to my married friends and comfort to my single friends.

May I ever realize that whether single or married, our one concern should be to serve you each day and to serve others for your sake.

Grant that I may be so attached to you, that I may never feel lonely in my chosen state. Amen.

Prayer to St. Raphael

St. Raphael is one of the seven Archangels who stands before the throne of God. He is the patron saint of travelers and the blind. In the Holy Bible, St. Raphael appears in the Book of Tobit. He is sent by God to help Tobias, Sarah and Tobit. Raphael discloses his identity in Chapter 12 of the book of Tobit.

Dear St. Raphael, your lovely name means “God Heals”. The Lord sent you to young Tobias to guide him throughout his long journey.

Upon his return, you taught him how to cure his father Tobit’s blindness.

How natural, therefore, for Christians to pray for your powerful help for safe travel and a happy return.

This is what we ask for ourselves as well as for all who are far from home.

Amen.

Prayer to St. Joseph

We come to you, O blessed Joseph, in our distress.
Having sought the aid of your most blessed spouse, we now confidently implore your assistance too.
We humbly beg you to remember the dutiful affection which bound you to the Immaculate Virgin Mother of God, and your fatherly love for the child Jesus.
Watch over the souls which Jesus Christ bought with his blood,
and by your strength and powerful intercession help us in our urgent need.
O most provident guardian of the Holy Family,  protect the chosen people of Jesus Christ.
Drive far from us, most loving father, all error and corrupting sin.
From your place in heaven, most powerful deliverer, graciously come to our aid in this conflict with the powers of darkness.
And as you delivered the Child Jesus from great perils of life, so now defend the holy Church of God from the snares of her enemies and from all adversity.
Extend to each one of us your continual protection, that, following your example, and borne up by your strength, we may be able to live and die in holiness and obtain everlasting happiness in heaven.

Amen.

Humble King

Here is another beautiful Meditation Song“Humble King” by Brenton Brown.

Here the lyrics of “Humble King”.

Oh kneel me down again, here at Your feet;
Show me how much You love humility.

Oh Spirit, be the star that leads me to
the humble heart of love I see in You.

(cos) You are the God of the broken, the friend of the weak;
You wash the feet of the weary, embrace the ones in need.
I want to be like you, Jesus, to have this heart in me.
You are the God of the humble.
You are the humble King.

(repeat)

I Will Choose Christ

Here is another beautiful song by Tom Booth“I will Choose Christ”.

This song is usually sung as a Gathering Song during Holy Mass.

Here are the lyrics of this song:-

Refrain:
I will choose Christ,
I will choose love,
I choose to serve.
I give my heart, I give my life,
I give my all to you.

1. How many times must he call my name
and show to me that he is God?
And as a servant he calls to me,
“You must serve too.”

Refrain

2. Christ, my teacher and healer,
teach my heart and heal my soul.
And as I walk this road with you,
teach me to love.

Refrain

3. As I look upon your cross,
so too must I die with you.
And with the death of my own desires,
I’ll rise with you.

Refrain

Awesome God

Perhaps our all time favorite song would be “Awesome God” by Rich Mullins.

Here are the lyrics of “Our God is an Awesome God”.

When He rolls up His sleeves, he ain’t just putting on the ritz.
Our God is an awesome God!
There’s thunder in His footsteps, And lightning in His fists .
Our God is an awesome God!
And the Lord wasn’t joking When He kicked ‘em out of Eden;
It wasn’t for no reason that He shed His blood.
His return is very close And so you better be believing that
Our God is an awesome God!

REFRAIN:
Our God is an awesome God.
He reigns from heaven above with wisdom, power, and love;
Our God is an awesome God! (repeat)

And when the sky was starless in the void of the night,
Our God is an awesome God!
He spoke into the darkness and created the light.
Our God is an awesome God!
The judgment and wrath He poured out on Sodom,
the Mercy and grace He gave us at the cross.
I hope that we have not too quickly forgotten that
Our God is an awesome God!

Refrain (repeat till song ends)
